Halloween Beauty Tips And Guidelines

Halloween makeup can be “Thrilling,” but trying to remove it can be a dreadful “Nightmare.”  From fake blood to layers of heavily pigmented makeup it is important that you have the right guidelines before you start.

Patch Test
You want to make sure that you test any makeup, face paint, etc. before applying it to your skin (especially your face) as you do not want to have a reaction to it. To do this, apply some product to an inconspicuous area, like the inside of your arm, to see if you have a reaction. Keep in mind that products with synthetic fragrances and dyes are two additives known to cause irritation, so read the ingredients.

Prep The Skin
Makeup goes on better with clean skin, so you want to make sure that you have removed any access dirt, dead skin, old makeup, as all of these can clog the pores, leaving the skin looking dull and uneven. A clean surface is the key, without it, your Halloween makeup will fail you.

Primer
To avoid clogging your pores, use a makeup primer as they are perfect for sealing the pores. Makeup primers also allow your makeup to adhere better, last longer, with little transparency and minimal fading.

Moisturizer
A lot of Halloween makeup can be drying to the skin, so you want to make sure that you are applying a thick moisturizer as a protective barrier between your skin and the products you are using.

Setting Your Makeup
After you have spent all that time applying, you want to make sure it will last for the night.  This is why we suggest using a makeup setting spray.  There are plenty out there that work wonderfully at setting your makeup while preventing a makeup meltdown with some great oil control!

Removing It
Whatever you do don’t sleep in your Halloween makeup. At the end of the night, a great way to remove all your makeup both from the surface and below the surface is by thoroughly cleansing with the Soniclear.  The Soniclear has over 20,000 brush bristles moving back and forth like little micro-brooms to sweep away all the surface makeup as well as makeup that may have settled into fine lines and pores. These micro-broom brush bristles move at over 17,000 times a minute to completely clean out any residual makeup that could potentially settle in facial flaws and cause a host of skincare problems.

Tips To Avoid A Breakout
While you may have looked fantastic the night of Halloween, no one wants to wake up the following morning with a zit the size of a witch’s mole!  So, the best way to prevent post-Halloween breakouts is to properly cleanse with a device like the Michael Todd Beauty Soniclear Elite. It’s ideal to then apply a serum that contains AHA’s or BHA’s to help dissolve any residual impurities and excess oil. If you are super sensitive, skip this step. Follow this serum with a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type. Your skin will also benefit from applying a treatment mask like Michael Todd’s Pumpkin Enzyme Mask a couple of days after to help improve any negative residual effects that Halloween makeup can have on your skin.
